Story

This time, I really was getting bolder. There was hardly anyone by the river, so I stripped down right there on the bank, teasing my boy to come over and fool around with me. Then suddenly, we heard voices in the distance. He panicked immediately, and hurried behind the only big tree nearby that could hide him, crouching down to play with the dirt and draw little circles on the ground, pretending nothing had happened. Thinking back now, his face must have been blushing like crazy. But of course, I still wasn’t ready to give up. I leaned against the tree trunk, using my body to shield him behind me, watching the distance for any movement. “I’ll keep watch. You stay down there and eat.” The autumn breeze drifted across the river, and occasionally someone passed by in the distance. Every little sound made our hearts race. Maybe this was our shyest, and boldest, secret adventure in all those autumn colors.
